Christian marriage is not sustained by feelings. It is sustained by obedience to God.

On Valentine’s Day, it’s easy to celebrate romance. What we don’t talk about enough is the grit required to stay.

There are moments in marriage when emotions are loud, wounds are real, and walking away feels justified.

But as believers, we do not move first by emotion. We move by prayer.

Before any major decision in our marriage, we ask:

Lord, what are You asking of us?

Not: What feels easiest?
Not: What looks strongest?
Not: What would protect my pride?

But: What honors You?

Biblical marriage is covenant. Covenant requires humility, repentance, forgiveness, rebuilding, and an incredible amount of strength that most people never see.

Some seasons feel romantic. Some feel refining.

Both can be holy.

If you are in a hard season of marriage today, pause before you make permanent decisions based on temporary pain.

Pray.
Listen.
Seek wise counsel.

Some mornings I don’t wake up with clarity.
I wake up with a full heart and no language for it yet.

So I don’t rush to fix it. I don’t force a prayer that isn’t ready. I just sit long enough to let what’s buried rise to the surface.

God has never asked me to be polished before coming to Him.

He meets me in the pauses.

In the unfinished thoughts.

In the quiet where I finally stop pretending I’m okay.

If you’re carrying things you haven’t found words for yet, you’re not distant from God. You’re closer than you think.
